Two Bahraini startups have successfully signed major deals at Gitex Global 2022, which is being held in Dubai from October 10 to 14. These agreements reflect Bahrain’s growing presence in the regional and global technology sectors, with a focus on cloud data protection and digital transformation solutions.
The week began with the signing of an agreement between Bahraini startup VirtuThinko and the Boston-based company HYCU, which specializes in cloud data protection. This partnership, announced on the first day of Gitex, aims to deliver HYCU’s services to the Middle East region, marking VirtuThinko’s significant step toward expanding its technological offerings in collaboration with international leaders.
Also participating in the Bahrain Pavilion, Atyaf eSolutions, a Bahraini digital transformation solutions provider, announced an exciting new partnership with Codebase Technologies, a leading provider of Open API Banking solutions. Together, they are set to launch Dinarii, a groundbreaking 3-in-1 marketplace enablement platform, which is the first of its kind. This collaboration is expected to transform the digital banking landscape in the region.
The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) played a pivotal role in supporting Bahrain’s presence at Gitex Global 2022 by sponsoring the Bahrain Pavilion. Tamkeen’s sponsorship enabled the participation of 30 Bahraini SMEs and startups from the information technology and telecommunications (ICT) sector. The Bahraini delegation included key partners from the local ecosystem, such as the Information and eGovernment Authority, the Economic Development Board, the Bahrain Development Bank, and the Hope Fund. This collective effort was organized in collaboration with the Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH).
Bahrain’s Ambassador to the UAE, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, visited the Bahrain Pavilion as part of its official opening. He was welcomed by the Acting Chief Executive of Tamkeen, Maha Mofeez, alongside members of the delegation and participating Bahraini SMEs. These companies showcased their innovative products and services, reinforcing Bahrain’s unique presence at Gitex. Shaikh Khalid praised the innovative concepts presented by Bahraini entrepreneurs, noting that their technology is on par with leading global trends. He also commended Tamkeen’s efforts to provide the necessary support for Bahrain’s participation, highlighting their impactful programs aimed at empowering the private sector, upskilling the national workforce, and increasing the competitiveness of Bahraini talent.
During his visit, Shaikh Khalid stated: “We are proud of the strong Bahraini presence at Gitex, and we are committed to supporting it year after year. We look forward to seeing Bahraini companies benefit from their participation in this global tech event by building international partnerships, establishing strong commercial ties with decision-makers in leading global companies, gaining access to regional and international opportunities, and developing solutions that cater to diverse markets.”

She noted that the organization’s goal is to help Bahraini enterprises explore growth opportunities, promote their products and services internationally, and contribute to the creation of high-quality job opportunities for Bahrainis.
Mofeez added: “Through this participation, we aim to provide Bahraini entrepreneurs and enterprises with opportunities to connect with potential clients, forge partnerships, learn from the challenges and opportunities presented by digital transformation, and showcase their latest products and services to exhibition visitors.
